Reviews matter. Over 75% of people say their purchase decision is impacted by reviews they see online. Having more positive reviews can also improve how your business performs on related Google searches. If you want to improve your online presence, asking for customer reviews is a great way of establishing your business as a reputable mattress provider.
Once you’ve asked friends and family to give you some positive reviews, you’ll need to start asking customers to do the same. Here are a few things to consider when asking for these reviews.
Know When To Ask For A Review
You know the look of a satisfied customer. When you complete a sale and your customer is visibly happy with the product they received, it’s a great feeling. That customer is in a perfect spot to give you a review. Did you do a good job and forget to ask for a customer review? That’s ok. When you forget to ask or the customer isn’t there, send them a “Thank You” postcard, or follow up email:
“Hey Julian, thanks again for letting me help you find the perfect mattress, I appreciate your business. If you’re happy with the product, could you do me a favor and leave a review on my Google business page? It helps my business tremendously. Thanks for your support!”
Provide a link to your business page within the postcard or email to make access easier for the customer (more on that later). This customer follow-up serves multiple purposes. It reminds customers of the great service you gave them, shows them you’re grateful for the opportunity, and solidifies you as their go-to mattress store when they make recommendations or additional purchases.
How To Ask For A Review
For some, this can be the trickiest part. Many people struggle with asking for a customer review. They don’t want to be pushy or bother the customer with an extra task. But, chances are your customers will want to share how awesome their experience was. When you ask for a review, try asking for it as a favor:
“I’m glad you’re satisfied with the new Tempur-Pedic mattress. Would you do me a favor and leave a review on my Facebook page? It would really help out my business.”
People are more inclined to help if you ask for what you need as a favor. Be genuine when you ask, and if the customer agrees to leave a review tell them you’ll provide them with a link shortly (more on that later).
Make Leaving A Review Easy
If leaving you a review is complicated or inconvenient, customers are far less likely to do it. To streamline this process you need to provide customers with direct links to your review page. Choose which site to ask for the review (Google, Facebook, Yelp, etc), and find the necessary link to direct the customer straight to your page.

Respond to every review
Reviews people leave for your business could be seen by hundreds of potential customers. That has massive implications on how your business is viewed online. Express your appreciation for customer reviews by responding to every one. This shows customers you care about your business and, more importantly, you care about their experience as a customer.
“Thanks for the great review, Barb! It was a pleasure to help with your mattress purchase. I know you’ll love your new Tempur-Pedic. Looking forward to working with you in the future.”
Short, sweet, and to the point. This customer will remember their positive experience and come back to your business when they need something else.
